Creating an ESG roadmap when one doesn’t exist
There were no clearly defined ESG metrics or policies for the demographic-driven, needs-based real asset classes in which we invest, so we continue to create them. We strive to implement pioneering ESG practices in order to deliver positive impact to our stakeholders and the world.
Best in Building Health Leadership Award
Harrison Street was named as a winner of Fitwel’s 2023 Best in Building Health Leadership Award for having the most Fitwel certifications of all time. We are committed to advancing occupant health and achieving healthy building certifications throughout our portfolio of occupied buildings.
Focused on the Social Well-being of Our Residents
At Harrison Street, ESG is embedded in how we do business. We have implemented a variety of programs and initiatives within our communities, such as fostering engagement between our student and senior residents through our innovative StudentCare program, and working with thought leaders in the space, such as the Well Living Lab. Diversity, Equity & Inclusion
We actively cultivate diversity in our workforce to build an inclusive and equitable environment as we expand our team, develop our leadership and create opportunities across our business. Harrison Street’s dedicated DEI committee is tasked with raising awareness, forming strategic partnerships and implementing a range of programs to increase diversity at all levels.
Giving and Service
We sponsor programs to provide youth in underserved communities and first-generation college students with new experiences, host company-wide annual volunteer events and support causes employees care about through a dollar-for-dollar match program. Learn more.
Partners
We strive to partner with those that share similar ESG and DEI values and consider these areas during investment diligence. New partners are vetted for a variety of elements, including company culture, management and pipeline talent, process rigor, marketing plans, financial acumen, and innovation. Once onboarded, Harrison Street takes a unique approach to working with its operating partners by establishing sharing communities through conferences, workshops and joint initiatives and facilitating relationships between partners and world-renowned industry experts.

We execute a disciplined governance strategy, continuously improve our internal procedures, and align our ESG strategy with best-in-class corporate governance frameworks. We understand that achieving our ESG goals will require a multifaceted approach that includes cross-functional collaboration, timely implementation, and third-party assurance.
